Welcome to Blue Light Driving School, this Driving School is based in Donoughmore Co Cork and is idealy situated to suit students wishing to take their test at any Test Centre in Cork or Mallow and is run by Jeremiah (Terry) Kenny a Road Safety Authority approved driving instructor (RSA ADI No 38463) qualified to give driving instruction for cars and motorcycles.
Terry is a retired Garda Sergeant who spent a career in the police force driving Emergency Garda Vehicles in both Dublin and Cork. Throughout this career which spanned over 30 years he remained accident free on all vehicles which included Cars, Motorcycles, Minibuses, Four Wheel drive vehicles. He holds Garda qualifications in advanced police driving in the following vehicle categories:
- All official cars (Category B)
- Motorcycles (Category A)
- Minibuses (Category D1)
- 4x4 vehicles(Category B)
- 4x4 vheicles with trailers (Category EB)
The courses and exams for each of these vehicle types were to a far higher standard than any civilian driving test, in fact for almost all of them the minimum requirement to attend the course was a full licence for relevant vehicle category. Some of these courses entailed several weeks of full time training by highly skilled Garda Driving Instructors following the same syllabus as taught in the Police Training Centre at Hendon in the United Kingdom.
30 years of driving emergency vehicles, attending and investigating serious Road Traffic Accidents, presenting evidence in relation to Road Traffic Act offences in Court, and dealing with mistakes made by drivers of all ages has given Terry a knowledge of Irish Driving and Road safety matters which many driving instructors can only dream of ever achieving.
Terry passed all exams in the ADI process on the first attempt, achieving high marks in all of them. The results of which are available to any potential student who wishes to see them. Training at Blue Light Driving School is conducted in a modern dual control (both clutch and brake unlike some schools) air conditioned car with all appropriate safety equipment in place. Lessons are conducted with patience and good humour.
